IDL: art and literacy

Having looked at the Es and Os for literacy, I realised that some match up really well to the creative arts. looking at how letting and signage and slogans link to posters and images is a perfect joining of two subjects.

LIT 2-24a, LIT 2-26a, EXA 2-03a, EXA 2-06a, EXA 2-07a

I used this as part of my IDL topic of World War 2. We designed propaganda posters. The style of Andy Warhol, combining our knowledge of WW2 and the home front with creating our own slogans, using bold lettering and the colours and block styles of Andy Warhol.

The lesson worked really well as it tied in all our prior learning of propaganda and brought a new element to the learning. The lesson was introduced with studying and discussions Andy Warhol’s style and then progressed on to the poster task, crafting the slogans and then designing a poster.
